Days Until Countdown & Day Counter

This counter shows how many days are left until a date (D-12) or how many days have passed since it (D+100), and lists the 100-day and yearly anniversaries.

Target date

Off: the date itself is day 0 and the next day is D+1. On: the date itself is day 1 (D+1), as anniversaries are counted. Days left until a future date do not change.

How to count days until a date

  1. Type a title, such as “Final exam” or “Our first day”.
  2. Pick the target date in the calendar. The large number shows D-N, D-Day or D+N right away.
  3. Turn on “Count the start date as day 1” if you count anniversaries from the first day.
  4. Press Save to keep the countdown in this browser. Press Load in the saved list to open it again.

When a day counter helps

  • Counting down to an exam, an application deadline or a certification test.
  • Finding the date of the 100th day, the 1,000th day or the 1st anniversary of a relationship.
  • Tracking the days left until a wedding, a trip, a move or a discharge date.
  • Checking how many days have passed since you started a habit, a job or a project.

Questions about the day counter

What does “Count the start date as day 1” change?

It only changes dates that are today or in the past. When it is off, the date itself is day 0 and the next day is D+1. When it is on, the date itself is day 1 (D+1) and the next day is D+2, which is how couples usually count anniversaries. The days left until a future date (D-N) are the same either way.

How are the 100-day and yearly anniversaries calculated?

The N-day rows follow the switch: with the start date counted as day 1, day 100 falls 99 days after the start date; without it, 100 days after. Yearly anniversaries fall on the same month and day, whatever the switch says. A date of February 29 has its anniversary on February 28 in years that are not leap years. The list covers day 100 to day 1,000 and the 1st to 10th anniversary.

Does it support the lunar calendar or other time zones?

No. It works with the solar (Gregorian) calendar only. “Today” is the date on your device, so it follows your device's time zone. Calculations use calendar dates, not hours, so daylight saving time does not shift the result.

Where are my saved countdowns stored?

Only in this browser's local storage. Nothing is sent to a server. They do not appear on another device or browser, and they are removed if you clear the browser's site data.

Can I rely on it for exam or military discharge dates?

The counter only counts from the date you enter. It does not know official schedules. Exam dates, enlistment and discharge dates can change, so confirm them with the organization or unit in charge.
